West Point graduate, veteran, Eagle Scout, and Professional Engineer from Chatham County makes announcement for NC House District 54.
Republican Jay Stobbs served as a physics teacher at the U.S. Military Academy and spent his career in the Army Corps of Engineers as a commander and staff officer in numerous combat and construction engineer units. He also worked in the Pentagon on nuclear weapon issues and that, along with his Master of Science Degree (MS) in Applied Sciences Engineering from UC-Davis, enabled him to be a subject matter expert in electromagnetic pulse (EMP) issues. Stobbs and his wife, MJ, also an educator, have been residents of Chatham County since 2005.
Stobbs, who also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), is a leader with extensive experience solving problems in large organizations. He is running for N.C. House Seat 54 to support our teachers and to enhance safety and security for students and faculty, to maintain clean water at Jordan Lake, to reduce traffic congestion, to attract businesses here to utilize the capable workforce, to support the opportunities provided by the community colleges in District 54 to prepare for the future growth trends, and to support our veterans and their families.
Active in the community, Stobbs is a member of the American Legion, Siler City. He and MJ are members of Triangle Presbyterian Church.
Over the next six months Jay will be visiting all parts of the 54th district meeting with voters to hear your concerns and to make those his priorities when he arrives in Raleigh.
